Ranong is usually used as a gateway to Richelieu Rock, Koh Surin and the Mergui Archipelago due to its proximity to them. It does have one little spot though at Koh Payam which is often refered to as the muck divers playground. A favourite among macro fans this site is great for nudibranchs, flatworms, ascidians and juvenile fish. Koh Payam is a sleepy little island with a couple of bungalow resorts and not much else.
