Asia Dive News : Malaysia International Dive Expo 2007 held in July

The Malaysia International Dive Expo (MIDE) 2007 is a trade, consumer and conservation exhibition event gearing up for the second year at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), which aims to generate a much bigger crowd as it takes on the task to promote the dive industry in Malaysia. This year the expo will once again bring Malaysia Tourism agencies, local dive resorts and dive operators, dive schools and boat manufacturers who will be joined by a number of international dive industry players from all over the world.

MIDE 2007 will be held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) from the 6th to 8th July 2007, this event is endorsed and supported by Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Sports Diving Association (MSDA), Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), NAUI Worldwide and SSI (Scuba School International Singapore Ltd.), International Technical Divers Association (ITDA).

Among the exhibitors who will be participating for this year are from USA, United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia, Denmark, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

The 3 day event's objective is to promote Malaysia as the world-standard diving destination and its region to the international and domestic divers. It also aims to cultivate and develop the new generation of divers of their interest by diverting them to marine environment and making scuba diving as an interesting experience. This event is an opportune time for the public to find out more about the sport diving, and further to become an enthusiastic diver in this field. Those who are interested in acquiring their scuba diving license would be able to find some special prices at MIDE 2007.

MIDE 2007 will also be a platform to create awareness on conservation and to educate the public and diving community, the importance to preserve and sustain the conservation of our underwater treasure.

This year's event will showcase event highlights such as a Seminar, Talk & Presentation (related to dive Industry & Programme on Awareness and Conservation) Underwater Photography Competition, Scuba Pool demonstration by dive instructors, Underwater Mini film documentary, and Imagery Gallery of Underwater, Children Underwater Coloring Contest.

The general public could participate to stand a chance to receive great prizes. There will be some Lucky Draw prizes of Air-ticket and holiday destination to be won during the 3 days event.

MIDE has appointed their first Ambassador Richard Ng who is the Radio Deejay of the Mix Breakfast Show on MixFM Radio Station who started diving in Redang Island, Malaysia since 1992.

Richard has been diving extensively in the East and West Coast of the Malaysian Peninsula. With his vast diving experience, he decided to turn his passion into a profession and went on to become a PADI Instructor with the commitment and dedication to promote continued dive education. He is also a freelance photojournalist from time to time for various magazines and his images have been published in V-mag, the Astro Hotel Guide, The Malay Mail, Malaysia Airlines Flight Magazine and StarPublications. He also teaches the PADI Underwarter Photography Course and has worked closely with Malaysia's Underwater photographers and Coral Researchers on marine conservation projects.
