The city of Manado in northern Sulawesi is usually regarded as the gateway to the world class dive spots in the Bunaken National Park, the Lembeh Strait and a number of islands further out. However around the coastline are a number equally as good dive sites. Muck diving is usually the norm in Manado bay with a wide range of critters to be found for the eagle eyed diver.
A number of the local resorts around the bay have good house reefs where coral growth is healthy and marine life is abundant. These include the Murex and Celebes house reefs, Lumba Lumba house reef, Bruce's Point which is a reclamation area just outsite the marina of Manado city, Tanjung Pisok which offers a gently sloping reef and Napo Seamount near the Thalassa Resort and Tanjung Tihowo near the Santika Resort.
