In the remote southwest of Java, the national park of Ujung Kulon is the site of one of Indonesia's most pristine and untouched natural attractions. The area is more renowned for being
the home of the last one horned white Javan rhinoceros of which a population of about 60 remains. A rocky landscape dominates the scene below the surface with volcanic structures similar to those found at nearby Krakatoa.
Tanjung Layar lighthouse on the tip of Ujung Kulon National Park is the landmark for triangulating a rocky dive location off the west point of the peninsula. The visibility can be upto 20 meters, coral is scarce, but the underwater valley is home to large Barracuda.
A small island at Karang Copong
that is within sight of the northwest tip of Peucang Island is the site of a great tunnel dive, the tunnels in the rock lead to massive caves. Good drift diving may be done at
Karang Jajar, Panaitan Island which is about an hour away. Turtles and rays frequent the area.
